Last Sunday, March 19, the International Math Kangaroo Competition was held at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), organized exclusively in the Dominican Republic by the Ayudar Me Da Vida Foundation, a non-profit institution whose objective is to empower children through mathematics.

At an international scale, this competition is organized by Kangourou Sans Frontieres, an international non-profit institution comprised of more than 70 countries, with the purpose of creating an opportunity to develop mathematical logic and designed for both students who like mathematics and those who fear it to participate in the event.

The first round of competition was held at the Domínico Americano School on Thursday, March 16, with 50 students from grades 4 through 11 who were evaluated for 50 minutes with logic tests in tribal mode.

In the inter-school competition, the students competed in adventure mode and of the 10 participants from our school who obtained a place, 9 participated in different categories. Two 4th grade students, Anderson Suero and Ian Webber, won third and second place, respectively, in the PreEcolier category. There was also a special recognition to Nura Abreu, a 10th grader, for her outstanding participation.

The International Math Kangaroo Competition is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their skills and awaken their interest in this science. We congratulate the winners and all the participants for their dedication and effort in this competition.
